Besides Leiden, Ochama will open stores in Utrecht, Rotterdam and Diemen (near Amsterdam) sometime in December, FashionUnited reports. The retailer intends to “make shopping easier and faster” and offers just about everything a person might need: clothing, food, home accessories, electronics, hygiene products and toys. All products can be ordered through the webshop or app, and then picked up the same day at the locations mentioned above or delivered at home at a later time.
According to RetailTrends, JD.com also wants to open a second distribution centre in the Netherlands next year. However, a precise location is not yet known.
JD.com specialises in logistics services for other retailers and brands in its home country and is also introducing that model in Europe. In its first Dutch warehouse in Venray, the company is partnering with Hunkemöller, which now processes its online orders made in the Benelux and France from the warehouse. According to Managing Director Kannan Qian of JD International Logistics Europe, they have the capacity for more Dutch retail customers. Talks with bol.com are already underway.
