Connected Store
Ebeltoft analysed 146 retailers from 16 different countries, based on different aspects. For example, the click & collect capabilities and the shopping opportunities through computer, smartphone and tablet were some of the things Ebeltoft looked at. How the online world merges with the physical stores is also an important factor.
De Bijenkorf managed to beat all European competition as it apparently had the best results as a “connected store”. In that sense, its online platform had the best connection to the actual stores.
In total, 100 European retailers were examined and German retailer Conrad came in second and Swedish Webhallen came in third. British companies Marks & Spencer and New Look were fourth and fifth.
Praise for the Netherlands
In general, the researches praised the Netherlands in general with research showing that only the United States and the United Kingdom still ahead in terms of cross channel shopping.
Worldwide, De Bijenkorf managed a third spot, trailing 2 American retailers. Number 1 is Best Buy, which excelled at click & collect. Number 2 is Nordstrom, which apparently has the best service, both offline and online, according to the research.
