Supermarket chain Jumbo saw turnover jump 35 percent after adding one hundred Super de Boer supermarkets to the Jumbo format. Identical growth of existing stores kept pace with the market.
Jumbo announced its figures over the first six months on Tuesday, a few weeks later than normal. Marketshare grew to 7.5 percent. Jumbo is not listed and has no obligation to publish figures. A number of important figures are not named in the press statement. The chain claims the profit of its growing buying power and efficiency largely offset the rising prices of raw materials.
The remaining Super de Boer supermarkets nearly kept pace with the market. The last 75 stores will be remodelled to Jumbo in the coming year. On average a remodelled store sees turnover grow 45 percent.
