2 million is the goal for 2014
Sales from affiliate brands Mini and Rolls-Royce are added into these numbers, which show – according to the sales director – that the company is on track to get to its forecast of 2 million cars sold in 2014.
Volkswagen sales also grew 4 % compared to last year and that means the 3 million car barrier has been pierced for the first time. This milestone is only for Volkswagen-labeled cars, ignoring other car brands within the concern.
Opel also managed a 4 % increase, mainly thanks to its Mokka model which helped increase sales for this first semester to 564,000 cars. Parent company General Motors will indubitably be relieved with these positive numbers on the back of a 4 billion euro investment it had announced last year in an attempt to help its ailing European branch.
