Very Goods
Svpply is a “social shopping community” that gives customers the chance to display their favourite items, comparable to Pinterest but focused on items. Internet giant eBay had bought the site two years ago, but decided to shut it down last month. Customers can now also “pin” products on their eBay profile, which is why it has decided to shut down Svpply.com, hoping to convert people to eBay.
Ben Pieratt, co-founder of Svpply, has now launched a Kickstarter project to create a new version of Svpply called Very Goods. Kickstarter allows users to attract money through crowdfunding, mostly popular in gaming where plenty of independent developers use it to attract funding.
With several days still to go until its closing date of 21 July, Very Goods has passed its 50,000 dollar goal (nearly 37,000 euro), which means Very Goods will definitely be built. Svpply users will be able to transfer their information to Very Goods and the founders promise they will not sell the site to a large company if they become successful, unlike what happened with Svpply.
