“Scan a bar code”
RedLaser, the app developer, was purchased by eBay in 2010 so that it could bar code scanners to its own apps and it has now developed a specific Google Glass app.
All customers have to say is “ok glass, scan a bar code” and the device will proceed to scan the code. Subsequently, the RedLaser app will compare prices at online and offline retailers and search for comparable products. If a customer wishes to buy the product, Google Glass will direct it to the closest available retailer, whether that is online or offline. Google Maps will provide a route to follow.
Designer Von Furstenberg has created a range of frames for Net-a-Porter, fit for Google Glass. It is the first third party seller for Google’s product, but the sale is currently limited to a list of interested customers as the frames are not available yet.
