Canadian frozen food giant McCain has sold its Dutch subsidiary CelaVita to investment company Numbus. CelaVita makes fresh potato specialities, while McCain wants to focus more on frozen products.
Next phase of growth
CelaVita has been in McCain’s portfolio since 2012, but now the group wants to focus strategically on frozen potato products and snacks.
Its new owner says it is targeting European companies with sales between 20 and 500 million euros that are “ready for the next phase of growth”, Dutch newspaper Financieele Dagblad reports. The potato processor has a turnover of 60 million euros and 200 employees. Nimbus wants to sell its products more outside retail.
