In talks with Treehouse Foods
All food products would be part of Amazon’s Elements brand, with coffee, soup, pasta and water as a few possible additions. Dog food, razor blades and cleaning products are also additions, which means Amazon will not limit itself to merely food items, according to The Wall Street Journal.
The company is allegedly already in talks with several food manufacturers, to see who would be willing to strike up a partnership for the food production. It has already talked to Treehouse foods, one of America’s largest food manufacturers for private labels, with a yearly turnover of 3 billion dollars (2.75 billion euro).
Amazon used to sell diapers under its Elements brand, back when the brand was first introduced, although they were pulled several months later after customers had complained about the diapers’ quality. Currently, Amazon sells plenty of groceries on its website, but it seems the company is planning to add its own collection of food products soon.
