“Double Benelux market share”
Jan-Willem Roest started his job at PayPal some 5 years ago, as a relationship manager, after having worked at Lenovo and IBM. He was quickly promoted to head of Relationship Management at the Benelux office and introduced QR shopping in Amsterdam. Until recently, he handled PayPal’s Digital Goods, where he was responsible for strategic partnerships in gaming, video-on-demand, streaming music and software for the European market.
As the new Benelux country manager, he will face plenty of challenges: PayPal is about to split off from its parent company eBay and is also preparing an IPO. Roest is extremely ambitious about his new task: “PayPal offers unique services, like its buyer’s and seller’s protection, mobile payment service and its return cost compensation. Combined with our ability to offer simple and safe payments all across the globe, I am convinced it should be possible to double our Benelux market share. This growth will be helped by the growth of mobile payments, an area we would like to dominate.”
Jan-Willem Roest will report to Luca Cassina, PayPal’s General Manager Western Europe. He will also work closely with Joachim Goyvaerts, Head of PayPal Belgium and Luxembourg since September 2014. The company says it has 152 million active users in 203 markets, with 9.3 million daily transactions in more than 100 different currencies.
