Unsuccessful in the United States
Major chains like Waitrose, Costa and Marks & Spencer will allow payments through the app at that time and even subway tickets can be purchased using Apple Pay. For identification purposes, customers will only need to attach their thumb print to their iPad of iPhone. Once that has been done, they can easily pay contact-free.
More than 70 % of all credit cards will be able to communicate with the app, including MasterCard and Visa. MasterCard even allows in-app purchases with Apple Pay.
The service is not really a success in the United States, with fewer than 25 % of major chains actually using the system. Wal-Mart for example, which is co-developing its own payment service, has said it will not support Apple Pay before 2016, at the earliest.
Apple Pay should have an easier time in the United Kingdom as plenty of retailers already have an Apple Pay-compatible system.
