Sweet Products, the confectionery group behind such well-known brands as Chocolade Jacques, IJsboerke and Duc d’O, posted strong sales growth and record profits in 2023.
Private label producer
Sweet Products is by no means a small player: its turnover rose 17 % to 1.44 billion euros last year. Its net profits tripled to 111 million euros, Belgian newspaper De Tijd reports. The group experienced strong growth after acquiring French chocolate manufacturer Cémoi in 2021.
As a major private brand supplier in Europe, Sweet Products is not an immediately familiar name, but it owns several brands that are. Chocolate producer Baronie (with brands such as Alpia, Jacques and Duc d’O) is part of the group, as is ice cream producer Glacio (known for IJsboerke, Mio and Artic). Its owner, Fons Walder is Dutch but lives and works in Belgium. The family is also a shareholder in beverage group Lucas Bols.
