Losses despite high turnover
Over the past few years, Rocket Internet has founded dozens of eCommerce companies, but the biggest value is in the 10 largest companies it owns. Together, these represent a 3.43 billion euro value, while Rocket Internet has a total value of 4.85 billion euro thanks to the remainder of the companies it owns.
The food branch has experienced the biggest growth, with HelloFresh up more than 369 %. There are no quarterly results for its exact turnover, but Rocket Internet does reveal that the number of deliveries for HelloFresh has grown from 1.6 million to 7.5 million in the first quarter of 2015. Its number of customers has also increased 452 % to 281.7 million.
Furniture stores Home24 and Westwing also performed exquisitely in the first quarter: the former grew 127.6 % to 59.8 million euro, while the latter grew 55.4 % to 51.8 million euro.
Despite the huge turnover boosts, its losses have also grown. Every company for which Rocket Internet revealed quarterly numbers is still onerous. That has not stopped Rocket Internet from adding new companies, as it has launched 6 new start-ups in 2015 already and intends to launch another 4 by the end of the year.
