Etsy attracts 2 billion dollars
At Handmade at Amazon’s start, it welcomed 80,000 items from 5,000 different sellers from 60 countries. They can easily use the platform to sell their own home-made items. The website is a competitor for Etsy, a site that has been doing this type of sales since 2005.
It is no surprise Amazon wants to enter that market as well, because more than 2 billion dollars’ worth (1.75 billion euro) of hand-made products are sold every year on Etsy. To attract sellers, Amazon has sent out invitations for Handmade at Amazon since May and it has even contacted sellers on Etsy.
