Turnover doubled
It is the second time in a row that Uniqlo claimed top spot in the clothing category of the market place, although it only managed a fifth place overall last year. Uniqlo’s Singles Day sales on Tmall reached more than 600 million yuan (87.4 million euro), more than double what it managed the year before.
“Uniqlo could achieve the number one position in the apparel category and the number four position overall this year thanks to our many loyal and appreciative customers in China, and for this I am truly grateful. We will accelerate the digitalization of our business and continue to build and grow our e-commerce not only in China, but worldwide, to be able to promote UNIQLO and our products to as many customers as possible”, Fast Retailing CEO Tadashi Yanai said.
The top three at Tmall during Singles Day were smartphone manufacturers Xiaomi and Huawei and Suning Appliances at spot number 3.
