“Offer best solution”
Intersport has some 1,500 brick & mortar stores in Germany and about 1,000 of those are managed by franchisees. Starting 2017, they will be able to sell items on the chain’s own web shop. “We want to offer the best possible solution when it comes to eCommerce“, director Kim Roether told German Sports+Mode magazine.
The chain’s web shop has been active for three years, but it wanted to get it working smoothly before giving franchisees access to its platform. Over the past year, online sales grew 30 % compared to the year before and November 2015 was even the best month ever in the web shop’s three-year existence.
Intersport also has Belgian and Dutch stores, but its Dutch franchisees are a part of Euretco which had already launched Jouwsportzaak.nl for its independent entrepreneurs.
