Choose a time slot for delivery
The order delivery information is accurate up to 15 minutes. The customer will have to pick a time slot with his online ah.nl order and will already get to see the expected delivery time in the morning. That information is based on the planning and the actual traffic information, updated along the way if the real-time information suggests any delays or alterations, like if there is a traffic jam.
About half an hour before the delivery arrives at the customer’s doorstep, a text message will notify the customer, giving him or her the flexibility to – for example – pick up the children or walk the dog. The service applies to grocery deliveries from Albert Heijn, Etos and Gall&Gall, 6 days out of 7, from 7h to 22h30.
Not the first
Albert Heijn says it is the first Dutch retailer to use track & trace, but online supermarket Picnic‘s customers also know when their delivery will arrive as the Picnic app already displays that information.
The Picnic formula launched in September and uses electric cars, which are connected to the internet. Three times a week, deliveries are made to the neighbourhood with the app showing where the car is actually located.
