Italian Ferrero Group appointed a new CEO and it is a first for the company: for the first time in seventy years, the company will be led by someone from outside the Ferrero family, namely Lapo Civiletti.
CEO becomes chairman of the board
Civiletti is currently the company’s responsible for its Central and Eastern European activities, but from 1 September onward, he will lead the entire chocolate company. He will succeed Giovanni Ferrero, who will become the company’s chairman of the board and focus on the company’s long-term strategy.
Civiletti will therefore become the first CEO outside of the founding Ferrero family’s ranks in the company’s history. Current CEO, Giovanni Ferrero is the founder’s, Pietro Ferrero, grand-son.
“I am very confident that Lapo Civiletti will ensure continuity in reaching business goals and effectively support the group in its growth objectives“, Giovanni Ferrero said.
“I am absolutely dedicated to pursuing Mr Ferrero’s strategic direction, side-by-side with him, with a very talented leadership team and in collaboration with all my Ferrero colleagues around the world”, Civiletti added.
The Ferrero Group owns Ferrero Rocher, but also Tic Tac and Nutella.
