Albert Heijn’s new app, AH Productscanner, will use augmented reality to give customers additional information about products, including ingredients, nutritional value, recipes and country of origin.
“Information within reach”
“Customers find it increasingly important to know about a product’s content and where it comes from. That is not the only thing though: they are also looking for tasty recipes. We obviously have all that information, but we cannot put it on the label or on our website. Thanks to new technologies, they have that information within reach as they shop”, Albert Heijn’s director of merchandising & sourcing Marit van Egmond said.
At first, only 35 products will be featured in the app, but more will be added over time. The goal is to have all of its own labels’ products in the app. The AH Productscanner uses augmented reality to illustrate “ingredients, allergens, nutritional value and country of origin in an attractive and easy way”.
