Drinks manufacturer Coca-Cola’s second quarter was a good one, with turnover up several percent and profit exceeding forecasts, mainly thanks to more expensive and healthy drinks.
Coca-Cola Zero to the United States
Coca-Cola’s second quarter turnover grew 3 % organically to 9.7 billion dollars (8.3 billion euro), and profit per share reached 59 cents, exceeding analysts’ expectations at 57 cents per share.
The results show that Coca-Cola has succeeded to increase focus on its healthy drinks. Coca-Cola Zero performed exceptionally well, and it will soon be available in the United States, where up until now, only Diet Coke can be found as a healthy alternative.
Coca-Cola also places an increased emphasis on fruit and tea drinks, investing a lot in the Innocent brand’s smoothies. The herbal tea-typed organic drink called Honest has also been introduced to Belgium, France and the Netherlands.
It has also increased the pricing of several other drinks. Healthy drinks are already more expensive, but several sodas now has smaller packaging and although they are quite expensive, people who are trying to live more healthily, are drawn to these smaller packages.
