‘Kindle in smartphone form’
There have been rumours that
Amazon is looking to sell its own smartphones ever since 2011, especially after the release of its very own
tablet computer, the Kindle. Foxconn was the original prime candidate manufacturer, but HTC
is now being featured heavily in these rumours. Amazon’s smartphones would
operate on its own Fire OS platform, based on Android and currently being used
for the Kindle.
All mentioned parties refused to comment. HTC is no stranger to
collaborations as it has already created
joint ventures with Google and Facebook.
