Barry Callebaut introduced its pink chocolate in Japan early this year and has now launched it in Europe. Nestlé will be the first, with a pink KitKat bar, next week. The fourth type of chocolate is smooth and has a fruity berry flavour.
Pink KitKats at Tesco
Starting next week, customers of British supermarket chain Tesco will be able to buy KitKat bars with pink chocolate. That means that Nestlé will be the first food company to commercialize the new chocolate flavour in Europe. The recipe for the pink KitKat bars was partially developed in Belgium, just like the chocolate flavour itself.
It took Barry Callebaut several years to perfect the recipe for the new chocolate flavour, but it is already taking the chocolate fans by storm. The new flavour comes from the Ruby cocoa bean, a particular product with very specific characteristics, including a pink colour and fruity flavour that will now appear in Nestlé’s new KitKat bars.
Japan already welcomed these bars earlier this year, but Tesco (in the United Kingdom) is the only that currently has them in Europe. Nestlé plans its European expansion later this year. It is not clear when the Benelux will get the new flavour, but those who are unwilling to wait, can already order the pink chocolate online.
