Meal delivery service Takeaway.com’s number of orders has grown 30 % in 2017’s fourth quarter.
26 % growth in Benelux
The company processed 19.3 million orders, up from almost 15 million in 2016. German orders grew 29 % to 6.9 million, while Dutch orders grew 25 % to 7.5 million. Looking at other markets, including Belgium and France, Takeaway published a 39 % increase in orders, to 4.9 million orders. From 11 February onward, Takeaway will no longer be present in France however.
Takeaway has also divulged more information about its Benelux growth, where it achieved a 26 % growth to 8.7 million orders, which boils down to about 1 million fourth quarter orders in Belgium.
Comfortable market leader
“Takeaway.com is now comfortable market leader in all its leading markets and we are confident that we will see continued market share gains”, CEO Jitse Groen said. “We are determined to make 2018 even more successful than 2017.” The company is particularly satisfied with its fourth quarter results, because it already had a huge increase in 2016’s fourth quarter. Back then, it invested a lot in marketing following its IPO, which led to an increased pace of growth.
For its full fiscal year, the number of orders grew 38 % to 68.3 million: German orders grew 38 % and Dutch orders followed suit with 30 %. The Benelux spiked 33 % to 31.8 million orders. Takeaway.com will publish its full-year results on 28 February, and those will be its first full-year results since its IPO.
