Italian fashion label Diesel has developed a collection of sustainable clothing in cooperation with Coca-Cola. The garments are partly made from recycled plastic bottles.
PET bottles
The capsule collection was named The (Re) Collection and it consists of twelve basic pieces that can be worn all year round. All garments contain recycled PET fibres from plastic bottles that could no longer be recycled into new bottles. Recycled cotton fibres have also been used. The collection was officially presented in the Parisian department store Galeries Lafayette and will be on sale worldwide from 7 October.
“As a leading pioneer in denim and casual fashion, DIESEL has always been known in the industry as an innovator. The (Re) Collection is a collaboration between two authentic and iconic brands that are both committed to a more responsible business. Inspired by our vision of the future, we are collaborating with Coca-Cola to explore new methods of creating fabrics, whilst challenging ourselves to incorporate recycled materials in our collections”, Diesel’s founder Renzo Rosso said in a press release.
Aldi
The Dutch branch of discounter Aldi is also launching a collection made from recycled PET bottles this weekend. The line was developed in collaboration with the sustainable label Trashcode and includes a blazer, a T-shirt and leggings.
