Babylon Loveshop, an erotics chain from the French-speaking part of Belgium, has decided to expand to the Dutch-speaking part with the partial take-over of its bankrupt competitor Pabo.
Three largest stores
The partial restart is somewhat of a surprise: at the end of August, Pabo’s remaining stock was sold to the public with great interest because there had been no acceptable offer to take over the chain.
The three stores that are now being taken over (Aartselaar, Roeselare and Wetteren) are not only the largest stores, but were also the best-performing stores before the bankruptcy. For the new owner, these represent a first foray into Flanders: the chain currently only has stores in Wallonia and France. According to Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad, Babylon Loveshop is already busy working on the design of the new stores.
Pabo’s web shops (including pabo.be) have found a new owner fairly quickly after the bankruptcy, when EDC, which also operates EasyToys.nl, took over all the e-commerce activities of the whole erotics group Beate Uhse.
