AS Watson, the holding company of chains like Ici Paris XL, Kruidvat and Rossmann, has appointed Malina Ngai as CEO for Asia and Europe. She also remains a member of the board of directors and COO for the entire AS Watson Group.
Dual role
Malina joined the Hong Kong group in 2001 from parent company CK Hutchison (formerly Hutchison Whampoa), and was appointed COO in December 2013. She began her career in corporate communications, but gradually took up management positions in a variety of business areas. She takes a suitcase of experience with her in domains like investment, digital, technology, sales, marketing and corporate social responsibilities.
Group managing director Dominic Lai said in a press release that “In her new role as CEO of A.S. Watson (Asia & Europe) and Group COO of A.S. Watson, Malina will continue to support me in formulating growth strategies, work closely with all operating businesses in executing the strategies to deliver the group vision in sales and profit, and building a truly customer-centric organisation.”
