Changes at the top at Carrefour : François-Melchior de Polignac replaces Guillaume de Colonges as Executive Director for Northern and Eastern Europe and is once again CEO of Carrefour Belgium.
An old acquaintance
Since December 16th already, Carrefour Belgium has a new CEO: it is an old acquaintance, François-Melchior de Polignac, who was also CEO in Belgium between 2013 and 2017. This is what Trends-Tendances points out and this is what Carrefour’s spokesperson, Marco Demerling, confirms. The new CEO is also executive director for Northern and Eastern Europe, replacing Guillaume de Colonges, who has become executive director for merchandise, supply and formats at group level and managing director of Carrefour Taiwan.
François-Melchior de Polignac is a graduate of the Haute Ecole de Commerce in Paris and Cambridge and began his career with L’Oréal Italy. After an intermezzo at the Boston Consulting Group, he joined Carrefour in 2000. He became CEO of Romania in 2011 and Belgium in 2013. In 2017, he returned to France to participate in the development of the transformation plan.
Secretary General Geoffroy Gersdorff continues to manage the day-to-day operations of the retailer in Belgium.
