Instagram has introduced new ‘stickers’, that direct users to a website where they can order food or gift vouchers. In this way, the social network wants to help retailers and small businesses during the corona crisis.
Gift vouchers or fundraising
To help independent retailers and small businesses during the corona lockdown, Instagram launches new stickers that local businesses can add to their Instagram ‘stories’. If a visitor clicks on a sticker, he or she will be taken directly to a web page where they can order food, buy a gift certificate or raise funds.
The food and gift vouchers are already available in the United States and Canada, in the rest of the world the new buttons will be launched in the coming weeks. Fundraiser stickers will follow soon. Users will then be redirected to a fundraiser of the company’s choice on Facebook, which could also be a fundraiser for the retailer himself.
“Small businesses are the backbone of local communities and restaurants are the soul of neighborhoods”, Instagram COO Justin Osofsky told Charged Retail: “They bring people together and build community. We want to do our part in helping them stay open, keep in touch with customers, and be informed on how to navigate this crisis.”
