Zalando is going to introduce a sustainability test for partners. Those who fail on areas like carbon emissions or ethical standards, will be removed from the platform.
Honesty rewarded
Brands that want to continue selling on Zalando’s platform, will have to share data regarding their supply chain to the German company. If partners do not meet certain standards on human rights or environmental measures, they will be banned from 2023 on.
“As Europe’s leading online platform for fashion and lifestyle, we want to raise the bar, act first and bring our partners on the journey to address today’s most important issues: climate change, use of resources and worker rights”, sustainability director Kate Heiny says in a press release.
