Popular shopping location in Madrid
Hema’s ambition is to expand throughout Europe in the next few years and CEO Ronald van Zetten believes this store in Madrid “is a nice step forward”. The Dutch warehouse chain is also on the lookout for a store in Barcelona.
Ronald van Zetten is “incredibly proud” of the store in Madrid and he finds himself privileged to open a store at such a beautiful location. It is located at the Calle Fuencarral, a popular shopping street in the Spanish capital.

To allow Spanish customers to get acquainted with the Hema concept, the chain has chosen a very intuitive store layout. “We have opted for a store layout that everyone will quickly get to know, even if you have no idea what kind of products Hema sells, when you walk in the door.”
“The store mimics the rooms of a house, each and every one of those filled with products you would use in these areas. In the children’s room, you will find pyjamas and t-shirts, but also stuffed animals and candy. The kitchen has pans, but also olive oil and herbs.”
Hema currently has nearly 700 stores in 6 countries: Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg, (home nation) the Netherlands, France and now Spain.
