Belgian Peter Somers, top executive of Emirates Post, has just been awarded the Industry Leadership Award at the World Post & Parcel Awards 2021. It is a recognition of his efforts in advancing the postal and parcel industry.

Peter Somers, who previously also held top positions at bpost and RetailDetail, received the Industry Leadership Award at the World Post & Parcel Awards 2021, a virtual event dedicated to the success of the postal and parcel industry. The award honours his leadership in advancing the national and international postal, parcel, and express industry and also recognises his current role as CEO of Emirates Post, where he is leading a transformation process.
“The pandemic has accelerated the transformation challenges of our industry, both in terms of the decline of traditional mail and the growth of e-commerce,” Somers said upon accepting the award. “We have seen the market evolve at an unprecedented rate. The majority of the players in our sector, just like Emirates Post, have shown the resilience necessary to excel in this unseen situation. Together, with agility, courage and determination, we can conquer the present and build the future of our amazing industry.”
