Belgian luxury burger chain Be Burger has just opened its first branch in France. In Lille, the company wants to test the potential on the French market. The chain is also opening new restaurants in Belgium.
Restaurant experience
The first French branch of Be Burger opened its doors on Tuesday 22 June. The restaurant is located in a 200-square-metre building with character in the popular Rue de Gand in Lille’s old town. “I fell in love with the building,” co-founder Sébastien De Messemaeker told Lille Actu. At this location, Be Burger can accommodate a hundred or so covers, and there is also room for a terrace in the summer.
The quality of the premises is not without significance: Be Burger distinguishes itself from other burger chains not only with its varied, original recipes and 100% Black Angus beef – as well as a few vegan options – but also with its traditional restaurant experience with table service and fancy cutlery. If the Lille launch is a success, the entrepreneur is planning additional openings in the Northern France region. But he will not be pinned down to a strict timetable for those expansion plans.
In the meantime, the chain is continuing its Belgian expansion: in addition to the seven restaurants in and around Brussels, new branches will soon be opening in Dilbeek and on the Brussels Guldenvlieslaan. The chain is owned by founders Roland Debuyst and Sébastien de Messemaeker and by investment company FPB Invest, which owns 50% of the shares.
