Based in Manresa, Deporvillage is a retailer dedicated exclusively to online sales of specialised sports equipment, mainly for cycling, running and outdoors. The chain was founded in 2010 in Spain, and later expanded to Italy (2013), France (also 2013), Portugal (2014), Germany (2018) and the United Kingdom (2018). Last year, the company recorded a turnover of 117.8 million euros and a pre-tax profit of 7.7 million euros, DirectorsTalk Interviews writes.
The Spanish sportswear specialist was founded by Xavier Pladellorens and Ángel Corcuera who, after several capital increases, are currently minority shareholders. Upon completion of the acquisition, they will retain a 20 % stake in the company and continue to hold their positions as CEO and CPO respectively.
“Deporvillage has a strong consumer-focused approach and is the market leader in its categories in Spain with significant potential for further international development. We look forward to closing the transaction and welcoming the Deporvillage team to the group”, chairman Peter Cowgill of JD Sports Fashion said.
