French online shopping community Showroomprivé has expressed concrete plans to add Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands to their European empire, following success in Spain, Italy and the UK. Members often receive invitations for online sales of very sharply priced designer clothes.
Showroomprivé, France’s second online shopping community, successfully entered the Spanish market last year, totalling 800,000 customers already. Its 10 million euro Spanish turnover could rise to 25 million by the end of this year, says founder Thierry Petit. In expanding to other European countries, the site follows the example of Vente-Privée, market leader in France.
Spain and France put together, Showroomprivé’s turnover for 2010 was 130 million, set to rise to 180 million this year after the expansion to Italy and the UK in March. Next year, the website will expand to Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands – subscribing in these countries is already possible.
