American meal delivery company DoorDash will not be investing in Gorillas after all. The two parties could not agree on the strategy the Berlin-based flash courier service should adopt in the United States.
No agreement
A fortnight ago, it became known that both parties were negotiating an investment of 400 million dollars (350 million euros). Gorillas has been looking for fresh capital for some time and would use part of the money to open warehouses in new cities.
However, according to Bloomberg, the talks came to nothing due to disagreements concerning the expansion plans. According to reports, DoorDash wanted Gorillas to slow down its expansion in the United States and focus on reducing its losses in Europe.
Gorillas only started in Berlin last year but, since then, expanded to six countries – including the Netherlands and Belgium. The company uses electric bikes to deliver groceries to homes or offices within ten minutes.
