RetailDetail Day, the marketing conference for the retail industry, presents four new names, in addition to Zeeman, Mars Food and Dobbi who had already been confirmed as speakers. The event offers – at last – another opportunity for face-to-face networking.
Sustainability label
The eighth edition of RetailDetail Day will take place on Thursday, 16 September. Although the programme is very varied, there is a common theme: now that the biggest distress of the pandemic seems to be more or less behind us, retailers are focusing again on a sustainable future.
Belgian Colruyt Group, for example, sees great potential in the Eco-Score launched earlier this year, a transparent choice guide that helps customers make sustainable purchasing decisions. Sustainability strategist Veerle Poppe conducted research into what consumers actually expect from a sustainability label and how retailers can deal with this. That will be interesting!
Unstaffed store
Fashion retailer C&A recently formulated new, more ambitious sustainability targets. By 2028, the chain wants to buy more sustainably, extend the life of products, and reduce single-use plastics. Catherine Louies, responsible for transparency and circular innovation at C&A, will elaborate on the plans. Her colleague Eva van Elst will concretely explain how the sustainability approach is to be implemented in the Benelux.
Lieven Vanlommel, CEO at ‘fast good’ chain Foodmaker – recently in the news because of its franchise partnership with Delhaize – will unveil a significant scoop at RetailDetail Day: the brand’s very first unstaffed, fully automated store. And that store is located… in the RetailHub, the experience centre of RetailDetail in Antwerp. Anyone attending the RetailDetail Day can try it out right away. Another reason to order your ticket promptly, right?
200 tickets
Another healthy option is Oats Day Long, the first oatmeal bar in the Benelux. Founders Anse Vanmassenhove and her brother Ewout have taken oatmeal to the next level: its neutral taste makes it an excellent ingredient for delicious and healthy dishes, not only for breakfast but also for lunch and as a snack. In addition to the webshop and a physical oatmeal bar in Ghent, the second location in Antwerp will open very soon. Anse and Ewout will reveal further plans for the future during the conference.
The RetailDetail Day, presented by Gino Van Ossel (Vlerick Business School) as usual, will take place on Thursday, 16 September at the RetailDetail event location in Shopping Stadsfeestzaal in Antwerp. It will be a hybrid event: 200 tickets are available for participants who want to experience the conference Covid-safely on-site. Others can follow the live stream remotely.
