Belgian kitchen specialist èggo aims to open its first Middle-Eastern store in Riyadh (the capital of Saudi-Arabia) this November. More stores in the region are expected to follow later, likely in Egypt and Qatar.
International expansion
The new store should open in two months’ time, website De Rijkste Belgen reports. More details are not yet made public. It is highly uncommon that a Belgian retailer opens a store on the Arabian peninsula, but the kitchen building group has some experience with ‘unusual’ destinations, as it has recently opened a store in Senegal (pictured).
Eggo was founded in 2007 on the remains of Euro Center, which had existed since 1979. 54 % of the shares is owned by the Belgian Taminiaux family, the rest is in German hands (kitchen retailers Nobilia). With its 62 stores, èggo has achieved a turnover of 145 million euros.
