Help Sligro into retail
De Baets has worked for Albert Heijn since 2003 and is already part of the board as its vice-president. De Zeeuw will become Albert Heijn’s new general manager on 1 June and will still report to Wouter Kolk, who is vice-president of new markets and speciality stores.
Corné Mulders will guide Luc de Baets in the next few weeks and then head to Sligro Food Group, where he will replace CEO Max Pietersma who has retired. Specialists believe this move shows that Sligro has plans to become a retailer itself.
Albert Heijn currently has 20 stores in Belgium, attracting 250,000 visitors on a weekly basis. By the end of 2016, Albert Heijn hopes to have 50 Belgian stores.
