On Wednesday 22 September, Jumbo will open a new city store in Amsterdam. It is a festive occasion because it marks the Dutch supermarket chain’s 700th store.
Milestone
The new Jumbo City will be located in the Gelderlandplein shopping centre in Amsterdam. “I am extremely proud that we can open our 700th store during our anniversary year”, says CEO Frits van Eerd. “This is a memorable achievement that we share with all our employees. We have accomplished this together, driven by the conviction that everything revolves around one thing: our customer.”
The new store wants to make a difference with a large and varied range with elements from Jumbo and La Place. There is a greater emphasis on organic, vegetarian and vegan products on the one hand and a wide choice of freshly prepared dishes on the other hand.
Earlier this month, Jumbo also announced that it is bringing its inner-city shopping concept to Belgium for the first time. The first Belgian Jumbo City will open its doors on December 15th at the Tenierplaats in the heart of Antwerp.
