Inditex is reorganising its management: Óscar García Maceiras will become the new CEO and Marta Ortega Pérez will succeed Pablo Isla as chairwoman in a few months’ time.
Founder’s daughter
Ortega Pérez is the daughter of group founder Amancio Ortega. She will become the new chair of the Spanish fashion group, the parent company of chains like Zara and Massimo Dutti, on 1 April 2022. She is to replace Pablo Isla, who led the group for seventeen years: first as Deputy Chairman and CEO, and since 2011 as Executive Chairman. Under his leadership, Inditex became the largest fashion group in the world.
Marta Ortega Pérez has worked in various areas of the group over the past fifteen years and has led the enhancement of Zara’s brand image and fashion proposition. She pushed important campaigns with well-known names from the industry, such as Steven Meisel and Fabien Baron. She was also involved in the launch of new premium collections, including Zara SRPLS and Charlotte Gainsbourg by Zara.
In addition to a new chairwoman, Inditex will also welcome a new CEO: Óscar García Maceiras, until now company lawyer and secretary to the board of directors, will take up the position with immediate effect. He joined the fashion group at the beginning of this year and has over twenty years of experience managing transformation processes, both in the public and private sectors. Current CEO Carlos Crespo has been appointed COO.
