Adidas, the second sports article producer in the world, has announced double digit growth figures today. A remarkable achievement, as Adidas already reached a top score last year, thanks to the World Cup football.
China leads the way
Sales in China went up 41%, and the Indian and North American market performed strongly as well. In total, turnover rose 13% to 6.3 billion euro for the first semester. Profit figures were only released for the second quarter; they peaked at 140 million euro (+11%).
Adidas’s own retail activities earned 1.2 billion euro in the first semester, almost a quarter of the total turnover. While still being smaller, this section of the Adidas company grew faster than the total: Adidas expects a growth of 15% over 2011.
Reebok joins the success
Another strong division was Reebok, where a new positioning and the introduction of more lifestyle elements in the collection boosted sales. With this announcement, Adidas and Reebok join market leader Nike and Puma in raising their forecasts.
