Samsung Electronics is grouping its mobile devices and consumer electronics divisions into a new division. In the future, the company will still consist of two large divisions.
Simplified structure
Jong-Hee Han will head the newly formed SET division. He will also keep his role as head of the Visual Display Business, the unit responsible for forging televisions. The Device Solutions Division (chips and components) will also get a new CEO, namely Kyehyun Kyung. Kyung was previously the chief executive of Samsung Electro-Mechanics.
Technology website Tweakers reports that Samsung has made five other senior-level appointments. The reorganisation at the top and the simplification of the structure must safeguard the future growth and competitiveness of the electronics giant.
In the third quarter of this year, Samsung’s smartphone branch achieved sales equivalent to 21.3 billion euros. The consumer electronics business brought in the equivalent of 10.6 billion euros.
