Expand network
Scotch & Soda aims to build a store network in Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and mainland China, according to FashionUnited with the first to arrive this month in the Harbor City shopping center in Hong Kong. That area already has stores from Versace, Maje and Ralph Lauren. Scotch & Soda will also place its second store in Hong Kong, in October.
The brand has already been present in this particular market ever since 2008, thanks to the Lane Crawford department stores. It has also entered the Chinese market in 2009, while ImagineX states that Scotch & Soda is one of the best performing brands in Lane Crawford. “The booming middle class with an income that is on the rise is looking to personalize its clothing style, but it also appreciates the background and quality of the brands they purchase“, Thomson Cheng, ImagineX’s managing director, said about the excellent Asian sales performance of the Dutch brand.
Expand in US and UK as well
Scotch & Soda will not only expand in Asia, but also in the United States – where it already has more than 10 stores and a web shop – and in Great Britain, where it has already opened several new stores last year. In Great Britain, it now aims for expansion outside of London.
Investment company Sun Capital Partners, aiming for international expansion, has owned Scotch & Soda (founded in 1985) ever since 2011.
