Efficient sales channel
Spar Netherlands came up with the pilot program, according to Emerce and Spar International is enthused by the efficient sales channel. Consumers can order their groceries through the Spar web shop and individual retailers will then gather the products in the store. Customers can then choose to either pick up the groceries or get them delivered at home.
“The average worth of an online order is higher than in the store itself. Existing customers by more and the online option also brings in new customers”, according to Spar International’s Niels Dekkers, speaking at the Global E-Commerce Summit. To facilitate the platform’s expansion, there have been talks with several Western and Eastern European licensees. In total, the group has some 12,000 stores in 35 countries.
