Irish fashion chain Primark has denied the rumours that it was looking to build an international web shop. British website Marketing said the “disposable fashion” chain had called for tenders for an e-commerce site that should open next year, but the Irish company denied doing so.
Primark currently has 220 stores in seven countries – 152 of which are in the UK. Three stores are in the Benelux: one in Hoofddorp (near Amsterdam), one in Rotterdam and one in Liège. The chain also plans a new 5300m² store in the historic centre of Ghent, in a huge real estate project at the scenic Vrijdagmarkt. H&M, Primark’s main competitor, also plans a new store in the same project in Ghent.
