Belgian retailer Colruyt Group has taken a stake in Yoboo, a digital health platform for pharmacists. This move strengthens the group’s health division, for which the retailer previously bought Newpharma and Jims.
Advice at the pharmacy
Yoboo offers personalised counselling programs through a digital platform, and is therefore of interest to Colruyt, which is pursuing a growing business in the health sector. “In recent years, we have increasingly experienced that our customers need guidance in making conscious health choices”, says Lisa Colruyt, responsible for health projects within the group that bears her family’s name.
“For years, we have been building a wide range of relevant applications for our customers so that they can take control themselves. We do this through a multi-channel approach: through digital tools, in stores, in fitness centres, but now also at the dietitian, pharmacy and so on”, Colruyt added. Through pharmacists, Yoboo users can fill out a questionnaire, after which they receive an individual dashboard with six health pillars to work on.
Colruyt did not disclose the size of the stake it is taking in Yoboo: the press release only states that the two companies will “henceforth sit around the table as equal partners.”
