Supermarket De Wolf
De Wolf was not only Alvo’s president, but he also managed an eponymous independent supermarket in Boechout near Antwerp. It was one of Belgium’s largest independent supermarkets in the 1980s and 1990s and even received Test-Aankoop’s title of ‘best Belgian supermarket’ once.
De Wolf was also VDV’s president at that time, the precursor of Buurtsuper.be, the union of independent supermarkets. “Manu and De Wolf supermarket were legends of our organization and the branch. He was always calm, diplomatic, driven and loyal towards the independent food distribution market”, said Luc Adries, the current Buurtsuper.be president.
