For the first time, a member of the founding Albrecht family is no longer active in Aldi Nord‘s management as Theo Albrecht, son of the founder with the same name, is retiring from operational management.
New structure
Albrecht has decided to step down after an internal reorganisation at Aldi Nord, as the heirs of his father have agreed on a new ownership structure at the company. The CEO will become honorary chairman of a supervisory board composed equally of representatives of the family lines of the two founder’s sons, Theo and Berthold Albrecht, Lebensmittel Zeitung reports.
Torsten Hufnagel will head the new business entity Aldi Nord Holding GmbH & Co. KG. A former Aldi top executive in the Netherlands and Germany, Nicolas de Lope, also retains a management position. Belgian Hendrik van de Walle is retiring at the age of 65, after forty years of service at the discounter. Aldi is also looking for a new chief financial officer.
