55.7 % made online purchase
Over the past weekend (Friday until Sunday), nearly 30 % of French consumers have bought something during the discount period called Black Friday. Originally an American tradition, this new discount period has found its way to European shores.
Most purchases were made online, with 55.7 % buying something on the internet. Most popular were fashion purchases, followed by high tech and toys.
“Black Friday 2014 is a success”
“More than 6 out of 10 French people remember seeing offers in stores or online, as plenty of brands promoted their own discounts during Black Friday 2014”, Philippe Guilbert, Toluna CEO, said.
“Because of the drop in temperature, discounts in winter clothing were very popular. Toys were also popular, as were high tech products like smartphones and tablets. Discounts during the French Black Friday were not as huge as their American or English counterpart, but similar to what you would find during a typical French seasonal sales period. On the whole, this Black Friday 2014 was a success for every participating brand”, Guilbert concluded.
