New business plan
The guardians hope to facilitate a restart and have presented a new business plan to both possible buyers. There are also negotiations ongoing for the (separate) Belgian division, with three possible buyers lined up. Similar to the Netherlands, the guardians hope to restart the entire division, with all of its own stores intact.
The fashion brand, which went bankrupt last month, has 315 stores worldwide and employs some 1,500 people. If the acquisition is not finalized by the end of the week, all those stores will have to close.
The franchise stores, which are not part of the bankruptcy, are currently switching to other brands. The store in Belgian Deinze for example is currently remodeling and will remove all links to Mexx. Other stores are also working towards a new future as a multi-brand store.
