70 million euro investment
The distribution center should be fully operational by the summer of 2016, servicing more than 150 stores in its vicinity. Full construction should be finalized by the fall of 2017. According to Javier Suarez, Lidl Spain’s expansion and real estate expert, believes the distribution center will be Europe’s most technologically advanced and most sustainable.
Lidl will invest 70 million euro to build this distribution center, on a plot of a former Electrolux factory, with room for 275 employees. In 2014, Lidl already invested 190 million euro in Spain and even spent 1 billion euro back in 2008 to speed up its Spanish expansion. The company entered the Spanish market in 1994 and currently has 530 stores in the entire nation.
